The Tingle: SUNDAY SETLIST (June 27)

Once a month, I partner with a local worship service at Calvary Temple called BEYOND. It’s a great event where people can come together, hear teaching and worship corporately with others from different churches and walks of life. I’m honoured that they would welcome me to lead worship there.
As I was planning for this event.. i was a little nervous. I knew the songs and the themes that I wanted to touch on and sing out but musically I felt a little timid. I’m not very comfortable playing lead guitar while lead worship and my usual lead player (who is brilliant BTW) was unable to join us.
Needless to say i was biting my nails.
You see my nervousness was purely on a musical/technical level.. which is valid…. but in no way is it as important as the true task at hand…. partnering with the Holy Spirit and the lead team at Beyond in creating a space where people can genuinely and authentically go crazy for their God and King.. as we worship him thru these songs. Whether I’m doing a GROUND ZERO event….. or a small group….. it stays the same.
It was great to remind myself of that over the course of the week leading up to the event. It made everything so much simpler.
From the time we started rehearsing the band and I noticed that there was something different happening. And when we were in pre-service prayer… it felt stronger. And as we walked down towards the stage…. it was even stronger. It was electrifying. I dubbed it… “the tingle”. Like a pins and needles feeling in the air… some sort of excitement or anticipation that was almost tangible. And it wasn’t just us – this feeling was shared by many in that room. The atmosphere in that room was alive and vibrant.
These are the tunes from last night.
HOSANNA -A- (Baloche/Brown) We rocked this out quite a bit faster. Felt so good. Gave this song new life for us as a band.
YES YOU HAVE -D- (Leeland)
REMAIN LET GOD ARISE -B- (Tomlin)
OUR GOD -B-(Passion – Redman/Tomlin)
YOUR LOVE NEVER FAILS -A- (McClarney) It was breathtaking to hear people sing the bridge long after we ended the song. We decdied to ramp back into it
FOREVER REIGN -C- (OneSonicSociety)
HOW HE LOVES -C- (McMillan)
YOUR LOVE NEVER FAILS reprise
We flowed thru the first 6 songs for over an hour. Together we all were continually soaking up and singing the truths found in these lyrics. It was a great night of proclaim our love for Him and being reminded of his marvelous love for us!!
“You’ve stolen my heart!”
“You wiped away the stains… and broke away the chains!”
“You are the God who saves us. Worthy of all our praises!”
“He holds the keys of life, our Lord – Death has no sting, no final word”
“Our God is a God who saves!”
“And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us! And if our God is with us, then what could stand against!”
“You make all things work together for my good”
“When the ocean rage, i don’t have to be afraid for i know that you love me!”
“You are joy, You’re the reason that I sing. You are life, in you death has lost its sting”
“The riches of your love will always be enough. Nothing compares to your embrace”
“He loves us, oh how he loves us!”
How could you not get excited over that?!?! By the end of the night…. people (including myself) had a fresh and renewed perspective on the father’s love for us. He will never desert or forsake us. He is forever faithful to us. He loves hanging out with us. WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!
It was a great time worshipping with the great folks at CT and Beyond. It was also wonderful to worship with my brothers: Jamie, Jeremy, and Eric. They played with such passion, creativity and clarity. They understood the flow and the vibe and just followed. We walked away exhausted yet completely refreshed – our heads and hearts spinning from a wonderful evening of spending time together with our Father.

Clocks – Coldplay
Let God Arise – Tomlin
Glory to God Forever – Fee/Beeching

Sunday Setlist (May 2nd 2010)
my first SS post in over 8 months.. maybe longer. yikes.
(but I’m returning to blogging after a very.. VERY long hiatus)
Well this morning I actually had the opportunity to worship from the other side of the stage. (which doesn’t happen too often) It was great to be able to move around and see things from a different perspective.. and be able to sit with family and friends for a change. The team did a killer job of mixing it up… some jazz influenced folk/country/pop..all rolled into one. Sounded great. Here are the tunes:
Filled with Your Glory – Starfield
Consuming Fire – Tim Hughes
Sweet Holy Spirit – The Issacs (Offering song)
(medley) Spirit of the Living God – ?? + Everything – Tim Hughes.
Below are some shots taken right before the service started at “the 9″. A great morning at TMP.

SUNDAY SETLIST (Sept 13)
Today was our “kickoff” Sunday.. as i’m sure it was for many churches . We had a jam packed morning with a few cool elements in the services. A great drama, a cover of SNOW PATROL’s “Open Your Eyes” with a video being projected on the band…. and a great message from Pastor John.
Tech-wise.. it was pretty crazy. I spent most of Friday setting up lights and gear trying to make sure everything was “just right”. I think overall everything worked. And this morning it was great to hear people singing out. The atmosphere in the room was definitely different. God was at work. I just hope what we brought was pleasing to him.. and not just noise.
I created a voice over track just to begin the service. Myron (our FACILITIES MANAGER) has a great speaking voice.. so I recorded him and and wrote a nice music bed intro to go along with it. That sounded pretty cool form the stage. The low bass notes shook the whole stage.
VOICEOVER INTRO
OPEN YOUR EYES – Snow Patrol
GLORY TO GOD FOREVER – Fee …. the congregation is really beginning to grab a hold of this song.
OUR GOD SAVES – P. Baloche
GREAT IS THE LORD – Starfield
(HOW GREAT THOU ART – Hymn) – we just did the chorus to this. it wasn’t really planned but it worked so well.
JESUS PAID IT ALL – HYMN
GOD OF THIS CITY – C. Tomlin
One thing I liked: We really tried to not rush things today. It was nice to take our time thru the songs and give certain songs space to breathe and grow. We did go over both services….. but it was worth it.
One thing I disliked: My A/B pedal was set incorrectly… so my electric went thru my DI instead of my amp for the ending of OPEN YOUR EYES. That kinda sucked.
I really wanted to crank that ending out.

Sunday Setlists (Sept 6th)
It was a fantastic morning yesterday @ TMP. Tho I was sick… sinus cold and sore throat… I did what I could.. and God did the rest. The band played with passion and energy. Its great to take these songs and then build creative and fun arrangements for them. Bob did a great job and it was fun to see him speak with such excitement!! Overall.. i think we all were able to do what we were supposed to do yesterday. Our prayer is that God was able to use what little we did.. and that He was pleased by it.
Songs:
Glory To God (Acoustic) -FEE- this was the first time we did this song. So I did it as a pre-service song.
Mighty to Save – R. Morgan- we did a fun version of this song. IT ROCKED.
Remain – Starfield
From the Inside Out-J. Houston – I think this was my favourite time playing this song. We included some nice melodic changes and gave the song some space. But during the services we found ourselves going off into a spontaneous moment. Both services.. in completely different ways. There was something about that song and the arrangement that just allowed us to go off.
Consuming Fire – T Hughes – Steve’s riffs and solo was so great. Man i hope we caught it on the recording!
Glory to God – FEE – We did the song again.. full band. I think people were connecting with the song. We will see next week i guess.
It was such a joyful Sunday. Lots of laughs and deep moments. And overall VERY relaxed. I have a great team. From the sound to the visuals.. all the way to the welcome team. It felt like everyone was giving their all yesterday morning. I was blessed just watching and listening to these amazing people. Looking forward to doing it all over again.

Sunday Setlist (Mar29)
SUNDAY SETLIST:
Gotta keep this short and sweet. My boy is tearing up my studio.
Today’s message was “WHERE ARE YOUR ACCUSERS”… part of the series “Hard Questions Jesus Asked”. So I chose songs with a heavy grace angle.
How Great is Our God – A (C.Tomlin)
Lead Me to the Cross – E (B. Fraser)
Scripture Reading –
What the Lord Has Done – C (R. Morgan)
Offering
Son of God – A (Starfield)
Teach (Part 1)
Amazing Grace
Teach (Part 2)
Grace Like Rain – E (T. Agnew)
Today was an interesting day. Though the songs were simple enough and the arrangements were cool…. i still felt unprepared. But God showed up like he always does. It was a great and fun morning. And it was so great to chat with the team and congregation and hear stories of how God spoke to them during the service. It was a simple and sweet morning.
SUNDAY SETLIST (Mar15)
My second SUNDAY SETLIST entry!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!
This weekend was nice for me cause it was a time when I was able to just take a backseat and simply add to what the team was doing. Denise did a great job of leading them and the church on Sunday. All I had to do was play keys, give my two cents to help with the flow of the service.. and just worship with the team. A very nice break for me.
It was interesting to see how people would react with the song choices. Most of the songs were pretty old and not really the “popular songs”. Matter of fact.. most of these tunes were new for me. But the church sang out loud on these songs and connected with them in a way I didn’t foresee. Wonderful. As usual there were the few complaints… but overall (from a production level) I thought it went well. And from the stories that I heard after the services.. I think people were blessed and were able to bring their gift of praise to God.
I love my job.
Meet with me – 10ShekelShirt
When You Call my name – Vineyard
Be Still and Know – Newsboys
Scripture (selected verses from Psalm 46)
Offering
Search me, Know me – K. Scott
Teach
In Christ Alone – K. Getty

My first SUNDAY SETLIST blog!!
My first Sunday Setlist blog. WHOO HOO!! I’ve been meaning to do this if I ever started to blog, so now I have no excuse. There seems to be a pretty cool community of worship pastors and leaders involved in this blog conversation.
Here is what we did this morning at TMP:
Instrumental: Awesome is the Lord Most High
Doxology – A (David Crowder arrangement)
Happy Day – C
Welcome and Announcements
Your Love Oh Lord – G (acoustic)
Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:18-19 (from the MSG)
Jesus Paid it All - B (Alex Nifong Arrangement)
Prayer/Offering
Before the Throne of God Above – E (Acoustic – Shane and Shane Arrangment)
Teach – Pastor John
Awesome is the Lord – A
Today was interesting. We had a very late rehearsal start and most of us were still half asleep. (Especially me) Up until rehearsal we were playing all of the songs loud and anthemic… but as soon as the first service started I took it into a different direction. Quieter.. more reflective and acoustic based. In the moment i was worried that I made a bad decision. But by the time the first service were done… things just felt better. It was so beautiful to hear the voices fill the room. Quite the opposite of last weekend, but just as wonderful.
The team did well. Forgot to bring the metronome so that caused some timing issues. And this week was intense week for the whole team (including myself) so our “home prep time” was minimal. People were sick and stressed. Nonetheless we took ownership of our part and thanked God for helping us to do His work to the best of our abilities. I just feel to blessed to work with such wonderful musicians and singers that are authentic, honest and fun. THANK YOU GOD FOR MY TEAM!!!
The new series is titled: “Hard Questions Jesus Asked” I’m really looking forward to seeing how people respond over the next 5 weeks to the messages. Good times are ahead.
How was your Sunday services???
